Staying healthy and fit is a way of life. At East Shore Athletic Club it’s our goal to make you feel and look your best, while providing a little entertainment along the way! We have many clubs around the tri-county area to help you reach your fitness goals. All of our locations offer a variety of amenities and services, and each location has its own unique feature to separate it from the other.
Welcome to "The Mecca" - we are the original, the place where it all began. More than 45 years ago, Joe Gold opened a modest fitness center in Venice Beach, California and began a tradition of commitment, passion and dedication that is now practiced at more than 600 locations across the globe.

Bella Forza is the Mind and Body Sculpting studio that promises to build long, lean physiques while building
empowering internal dialogues.
Once entering the studio, students are met with walls of empowering and inspirational affirmations and an accountability board, which allows students to help keep each other and themselves accountable to the goal they have set for their time in the studio that day.
The disciplines of Jivamukti Yoga, Cage, Pilates, Barre, and Zumba are taught by only the finest instructors in the area and each class maintains small group sizes to ensure personal instructor/student interaction and adjustments.
All sessions are finished with a cool, refreshing eucalyptus or lavender towels and students are encouraged to relax in the lobby or changing area, shop the retail, and/or schedule an upper body wax.
And, no, It's not a gym, it's an EXPERIENCE.

At Charleston Community Yoga, we share a desire to bring yoga to the people.
Our intention is to grow a yoga collective and to spread peace through a group experience. Strengthening body, mind and spirit; we provide a sacred space and inspired facilitation. Our purpose is to offer yoga to anyone who chooses to practice. Welcome.
It's a big world out there, and the constant clamor and distractions can sometimes make you feel like that's all the world is.
But we know the world is more than traffic and deadlines. Much more.
Welcome to Blue Turtle Yoga. We believe yoga is more than learning poses or increasing your body's flexibility. We believe yoga is a way of living. We're not merely talking about quieting your mind for a few moments during a hectic day. We're talking about mindfulness. An inner tranquility that is beyond words. An ever-expanding awareness of people and nature. Call us crazy, but we think if you can change your mind, you can change the world.
all classes are taught in the jivamukti method
hour flow/spiritual warrior-class begins with a warm-up sequence followed by the brisk guided vinyasa of classic postures, meditation, relaxation, and hands-on adjustments that make the jivamukti practice a complete experience. sequence is set so students have an opportunity to gain mastery over the postures.
open-all levels. classes consist of hands-on adjustments and flowing posture sequences; backbends, inversions, forward bends, twists, meditation, chanting, and yoga philosophy...all set to uplifting music. options are available for every level.
beginner vinyasa-The beginner vinyasa class is designed as a slower flowing open class in a vinyasa style where intention and breath link each movement in time. It's a great transition from basics to open and gives more advanced students the opportunity to refine their asana practice with a deeper exploration.
basics-ever been lost in a yoga class? want to fine tune your down dog or surya namaskar? explore the building blocks of Hatha Yoga in a fun and challenging atmosphere.

Mark began studying Zen Buddhism and Aikido in 1990 with Master Robert Balker. This planted the seed of Svaādhyaāya--Self-study and Tapas--discipline.
Mark earned his Class IV 3000 Ton Master’s Licence from the UK Department of Transport after years of training and practical experience. Born and raised in the Bahamas he felt most at home on the water, and would pursue a long and happy career at sea.
It was this love that brought him to his first yoga class in Charleston. On what would be his final journey he found his first Jivamukti Yoga class and had his whole view of Yoga change. Far from sleepy and flowery he found a great practicality in the practice that demanded use in everyday life, finding challenge not only in the postures, but also in the spiritual activation and social awareness that was so ingrained in the Jivamukti method.
As a Type I diabetic Mark has experienced firsthand the life-enhancing qualities of a vegan diet and a daily yoga practice.
From teaching business moguls on the beaches of the Bahamas to the dedicated students of South Carolina, he's never looked back on his former life as a Dive Instructor, Bungee Operator, or Ship’s Captain.
After a nearly two year apprenticeship with Jeffrey Cohen, acting Facilitator and former Lead Mentor for the residential Jivamukti Yoga® Teacher Training Program, he completed his 800 Hour Certification.
Mark teaches yoga as a practical method, a challenging practice and supreme devotional gratitude.
In December of 2010 Mark was honored to be asked to join People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals as a Vanguard Society member.
He bows down at the lotus feet of the Lord and His many forms:
Sharon Gannon and David Life for allowing him to be of service to others- teaching that liberation is possible in this lifetime and how to realize it. Manoramaji for touching his heart with the power of Sanskrit and the wisdom of the Vedas. Andrea and Jeffrey who constantly inspire him to be the change he wishes to see in the world and the courage to do it. His parents for their never ending love and support. His true love, Jennifer for encouragement and listening. Finally, his dear friend Bill who continues to be an endless source of inspiration.

JIVAMUKTI YOGA METHOD
Through the blessings of their teachers, Sharon and David Co-Founded the Jivamukti Yoga Method in 1984, which focuses on teaching and practicing yoga as a means to enlightenment. They travel the world teaching as far afield as Canada, Germany, France, UK, Italy, India, Singapore, Philippines, Australia, Hong Kong, the Caribbean, and Israel. They also present at national conferences hosted by Omega Institute, Yoga Journal, Southwest Yoga, Arizona Yoga Conference, Midwest Yoga Conference and others. Jivamukti Yoga is taught world-wide by students of Gannon and Life, and independently-owned Jivamukti centers are located in Munich, London, Toronto, and Charleston, South Carolina.
Offering vigorously physical and intellectually stimulating yoga classes, Jivamukti is one of the nine internationally recognized styles of Hatha Yoga. The emphasis is on teaching yoga as a spiritual practice. Classes consist of vinyasa (flowing asana sequences), hands-on adjustments, pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation, Sanskrit chanting, yoga philosophy, and deep relaxation. To keep the practice unanticipated, asana sequences are ever-changing. Uplifting and inspirational music from Krishna Das to Michael Franti plays an integral role in class.
5 Tenets of Jivamukti Yoga
ŚShastra Exploration of the foundational texts of yoga
Bhakti Cultivation of devotion and humility
Ahimsaā Peaceful lifestyle that emphasizes the integration of ethical vegetarianism
Nada Yoga Deep listening, chanting, elevated music
Dhyaāna Connecting to inner stillness and understanding the mechanics of the mind
Sri K. Pattabhi Jois
Shri K. Pattabhi Jois studied yoga under his guru Shri Krishnamacharya and also attended the Sanskrit College of Mysore, where he became a professor of Sanskrit and Advaita Vedanta. He and Shri Krishnamacharya developed the Astanga Yoga series based on the purifying practices described in the ancient texts. In 1948, he founded the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore. In 1958, he wrote his classic book Yoga Mala, which explores Ashtanga and Yoga philosophy. Guruji left his physical body on May 18, 2009. "If we practice the science of yoga...our minds will flood towards the Self."
David Life - Deva Das
David has taught yoga for 20 years. He spent several years as a sannyasi (renunciate) of a lineage of yogic monks in India. He has received Kalachakra and Bodhisattva initiation from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. His interest in yoga is supported by his artistic, literary, and metaphysical studies. He inbues his classes with metaphor, musicality, spirituality, spiced with humor, vigor and spontaneity. He is considered to be a "teacher's teacher" and is a respected, popular, and in-demand teacher around the globe.
Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati, also known as Ramamurti S. Mishra, M.D, had an extensive background in Eastern and Western medicine. In 1958, he founded the Yoga Society of New York. In 1964, he founded Ananda Ashram in Monroe, New York, which continues to be devoted to his teachings and message. He was a master of the Sanskrit language and Nada Yoga (sound and vibration) and his life was dedicated to the union of science and the spirit. He is the author of Fundamentals of Yoga, The Textbook of Yoga Psychology (one of the definitive translations of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras) and Self Analysis and Self Knowledge, along with many essays. He left his physical body in 1993, but his teachings continue on today...
Sharon Gannon - Tripura Sundari

Swami Nirmalananda believed in the potency of Self rule, and he called himself the "Anarchist Swami." He lived in the serene B.R. Hills in Karnataka, India. Swami Nirmalananda was a naturalist and a "mauni". He practiced silence for 11 years, and sent thousands of letters to many people, including leaders of countries, encouraging non-violence, joyfulness, and simple living.
